The OutCare Foundation is pleased to announce that it will continue its tradition of supporting palliative care volunteers through its bursary program. To date, the OutCare Foundation has awarded 76 bursaries to palliative care volunteers across Eastern Ontario. Now in its fourth year, the program will award 24 bursaries to volunteers enabling them to join delegates at this year’s French and English Hospice Palliative Care Education days.

Volunteers play a crucial role in palliative care and Cheryl Teeter, interim executive director of the Champlain Hospice Palliative Care Program couldn’t agree more, “Volunteers play an extremely important role in the palliative care team. Thank you to the OutCare Foundation whose bursaries allow us to recognize the enormous contribution of our volunteers in a meaningful way.”

Karen Wagner, Program Coordinator at the Madawaska Valley Hospice adds: “Our volunteers put a tremendous amount of time and their own resources into helping those in our community facing a life ending journey. Your assistance in expanding volunteer knowledge impacts greatly on our community. We appreciate this very much.”

Submissions for the OutCare Foundation Bursaries for Palliative Care Volunteers are due by February 13, 2015. Questions about the application process should be directed to the Champlain Hospice Palliative Care Program (613-683-3779 or hthivierge@champlainpalliative.ca).
