The foundation, legally incorporated in 1997, is an independent, charitable health care foundation. The Mission of the Foundation is to financially support not-for-profit healthcare service providers outside of the traditional hospital environment. Funding is awarded to develop and initiate new programs or expand existing services to meet the demonstrated need in communities throughout Eastern Ontario. Funding is awarded to programs such as Alzheimer day clinics, hospice, respite and palliative care, occupational and rehabitative care, home nursing and homemaking services. To date, over $395,000 has been awarded in support of these types of programs and services. The 10 member volunteer Board of Directors are dedicated to the Mission of the foundation and the ever increasing demand for "out-of-hospital" health care.
