Tamara Deines has spent the entirety of her career working in the healthcare industry. She became a Registered Practical Nurse in 2011 and ever since then, has been supporting individuals of all ages. She began her career working in Pediatric Palliative care and General Surgery/Medicine at CHEO. During that same period, she was working as a float nurse at the Winchester hospital. With this experience, she is able to understand the intricacies of the Ontario healthcare system and provide a well-rounded continuity of care for all her patients and/or clients.
She has shown compassion for serving others since a noticeably young age when she began volunteering at the age of 13 in local Long-Term Care and Retirement Homes. Naturally, this has led her into her current role at Assurance Home Care where she leads more than 100 caregivers, PSWs and nurses as the Nurse Manager and Client Services Specialist. Over the last year Tamara has led the creation and implementation of a comprehensive home palliative care program working closely with many of Ottawa’s palliative physicians. She is an integral part of the leadership team, which allows her to wear many hats. Much of this consists of educating and supporting seniors and their loved ones in the community. She is dedicated to upholding and elevating the care that seniors and adults with disabilities receive in their homes.
Tamara is a continuous advocate for palliative and end-of-life care as she believes everyone should have the choice to spend their last days how they wish. She trusts wholeheartedly in the OutCare Foundation’s purpose of providing funding and support towards the unmet needs for ‘end-of-life’
Tamara joined the Board in 2021.
