JT Bradley's Navan Curling Club Golf Classic, On Saturday, September 17, golfers enjoyed a beautiful day while raising much-needed funding for the OutCare Foundation and the Navan Curling Club. This year's JT Bradley's Navan Curling Club Golf Classic was a resounding success raising over $16,000 - $8,000 for each charity. Thanks to all those who participated and a special thanks to all of the sponsors. John Bradley and his team put on another great event!

JT Bradley’s Navan Curling Club Golf Classic On September 18, the 2010 JT Bradley’s Navan Curling Club Golf Classic raised $4,000 for the OutCare Foundation. This successful event, organized by JT Bradley’s, was held at the Hammond Golf Club. The 19th Annual Ottawa Physiotherapy Run/Walk along the scenic Rideau Canal attracts more than 300 participants each year. In addition to the fun, medals and prizes this annual event also provides financial support for local charities. The OutCare Foundation is grateful to be the chosen charity for the 2007Annual Ottawa Physiotherapy Run/Walk. Registrants can choose to participate in either the 10km and 5km runs or the 2km fun walk. In addition to the fun and prizes racers can take advantage of on site massage and physiotherapy. On Sunday, May 6, Ottawa proudly hosted four of the more than 90 ‘Hike for Hospice Palliative Care’ locations nationwide. Over $100,000 was raised for Hospice at May Court, Friends of Hospice Ottawa, Centre de Service Guigues and Friends of Hospice Ottawa – Richmond Project. Richard Patten, MPP officially launched the Hospice at May Court Hike, Lisa McLeod MPP participated at the Friends of Hospice Ottawa Hike and Ottawa Mayor, Larry O’Brien and his dog ‘Remy’ started off the hike in Richmond. They were all joined by a number of local councilors, adults and children of all ages, Algonquin College police and security students and even one firefighter that did the entire hike in full gear! Read the AD (pdf, 264KB) The 4th Annual Roger’s House Telethon The Ottawa Senators Foundation Telethon for Roger’s House, presented by the Outcare Foundation, is set to air at 7 p.m. on February 20. Rogers Sportsnet will include the telethon as part of their broadcast of the Ottawa Senators vs Edmonton Oilers game. Thanks to many individual and corporate donors this annual event has raised over $1 million dollars for Roger’s House since 2004. ![]() ![]() This year’s telethon will be hosted by Rob Faulds of Rogers Sportsnet and Leanne Cusack of CTV Ottawa. Special telethon guests will include Eugene Melnyk, owner and governor of the Ottawa Senators and Scotiabank Place, Roy Mlakar, president and chief executive officer of the Ottawa Senators and Scotiabank Place, wives and girlfriends of Senators players, Senators alumni, Roger’s House founding sponsors, representatives from Roger’s House board of directors and members of the community. The 4th Annual Ottawa Senators Foundation Telethon, with your support, will be an incredible night of fundraising while remembering Roger Neilson and learning more about Roger’s House, an incredible paediatric palliative and respite care facility built in Roger’s memory. Since opening on May 15, 2006 more than 100 children have received care at Roger’s House. Viewers will learn more about some of these children and their families and the difference your donations to Roger’s House are making in their lives. Flatley’s Lord of the Dance Those looking to start the new year off on the right foot (followed by the left and back to the right – you get the idea) ventured over to the NAC on Wednesday for a night of traditional Irish dance. The OutCare Foundation’s sold-out fundraiser saw a crowd of 200 pay $175 for primo seats to Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance, raising more than $13,500 in support of hospice palliative care. The evening started with a party in the Panorama Room where harpist Mary Muckle worked her musical magic. As an added treat, dancers Mairead McCargo and Damien Doherty left their two-hour pre-show practice for a Q&A with the crowd. Several guests likely kicked up their own heels after winning such prizes as a return flight to Emerald Isle from Zoom Airlines. On hand were OutCare Foundation executive director Gail Carroll, board vice-chairman John Bradley of J.T. Bradley’s and Ralph Chapman of title sponsor IBM. Also spotted were Cumberland Councillor Rob Jellett, volunteer Michelle Begin, and such board members as Wilf Brousseau, co-founder of BMR Group, Dave Ready of the Ottawa Senators Foundation; John Bergeron, owner of a string of McDonald’s restaurants in the Upper Ottawa Valley ; and Brian MacGregor of the family-owned Browns Cleaners, with his folks, Malcolm and Heather and his wife, Bonni. This year’s event was a tremendous success that realized $178,000 for the group of benefiting hospice palliative care programs in the region. Hosted by the OutCare Foundation and in partnership with the Ottawa Senators Foundation, the high spirited evening welcomed Master of Ceremonies, Leanne Cusack of CTV Ottawa and auctioneer extraordinaire, Kent Browne of Royal LePage. The festivities included gourmet food, draws for jewelry and a ZOOM Airlines return trip for two to England. Great prizes and silent and live auction items that included Dinner for 16 at the British High Commission Residence created plenty of excitement. Presenting sponsor Desjardins Pharmacy along with 500 enthusiastic guests were entertained by the magic of Smith & Quick, the whimsy of Matt Ficner and his puppet “Duzz-Good”, the Oto-Wa Taiko Drummers and renowned jazz pianist Brian Browne. The Celebration of Life program has injected over $400,000 into hospice palliative care programs since its inception in 2004. Celebration of Life 2005 was a memorable event that attracted nearly 500 enthusiastic guests. The 2006 Celebration of Life is scheduled for October 17 at the Ottawa Congress Centre. This first class celebration is designed to advance awareness and funding for out-of-hospital hospice palliative care programs in our community. The highlight of a multi-year initiative created through the Ottawa Senators Foundation and the OutCare Foundation’s partnership, the Celebration of Life is a wonderful example of the good that grows when business, media and individuals come together to support and enrich lives. This spectacular program has realized $265,000 over the past two years for the benefiting group of hospice palliative care programs.

More than 3,000 revelers packed the Navan Fairgrounds on Friday, June 3, 2005 to celebrate the arrival of summer and help raise $20,000 for the OutCare Foundation. John Bradley, owner of JT Bradley’s Convenience Store and Vice Chairman of the OutCare Foundation was the organizer and driving force behind the 8th Navan Streetdance and Chicken BBQ. Ottawa Mayor, Bob Chiarelli lent his support and ‘Ambush’, the little band with the big sound, provided the entertainment. This hugely popular event that began back in 1997 was a great success for organizers, participants and the OutCare Foundation.
The OutCare Foundation Celebration Telethon for Roger’s House Broadcast on The Team 1200 radio and Rogers Sportsnet, the OutCare Foundation Celebration Telethon for Roger’s House on Jan. 15, 2005 raised $670,493 for Roger’s House, a pediatric palliative care facility to be be located on the campus of the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario. On March 21, 2006, a $25,000 cheque was presented by the OutCare Foundation during the 2006 Roger’s House Telethon, broadcast live during the Ottawa Senators vs Pittsburgh Penguins game.
CELEBRATION OF LIFE – October 2004 The OutCare Foundation presents “Celebration of Life, 2004″ along with the Ottawa Senators Foundation and helps raise $100,000 for the Palliative Care Outreach Program On October 5, the OutCare Foundation partnered with the Ottawa Senators Foundation to jointly present, “Celebration of Life” – a cocktail party and variety show in support of the Palliative Care Outreach Program (PCOP). As part of the OutCare Foundation’s commitment to supporting out-of-hospital care in our community, the Foundation matched the amount raised through the “Celebration of Life” to present the PCOP with a cheque for $100,000. Hosted by Max Keeping, CJOH-TV’s News Director, over 300 people attended the event at the Ottawa Congress Centre. Proceeds from ticket sales as well as “live” and silent auctions raised $50,000. With the matching funds from the OutCare Foundation, the Palliative Care Outreach Program received a cheque for $100,000. This funding will be used to help Dr. Margaret Farncombe, Medical Director and Founder of the PCOP, and her dedicated staff maintain the services they compassionately deliver to terminally ill patients and their families in our region. The OutCare Foundation was delighted to partner with the Ottawa Senators Foundation and other local businesses to support the PCOP in its work and to help improve the availability of out-of-hospital palliative care in our community.
