Those looking to start the new year off on the right foot (followed by the left and back to the right – you get the idea) ventured over to the NAC on Wednesday for a night of traditional Irish dance. The OutCare Foundation’s sold-out fundraiser saw a crowd of 200 pay $175 for primo seats to Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance, raising more than $13,500 in support of hospice palliative care. The evening started with a party in the Panorama Room where harpist Mary Muckle worked her musical magic. As an added treat, dancers Mairead McCargo and Damien Doherty left their two-hour pre-show practice for a Q&A with the crowd. Several guests likely kicked up their own heels after winning such prizes as a return flight to Emerald Isle from Zoom Airlines. On hand were OutCare Foundation executive director Gail Carroll, board vice-chairman John Bradley of J.T. Bradley’s and Ralph Chapman of title sponsor IBM. Also spotted were Cumberland Councillor Rob Jellett, volunteer Michelle Begin, and such board members as Wilf Brousseau, co-founder of BMR Group, Dave Ready of the Ottawa Senators Foundation; John Bergeron, owner of a string of McDonald’s restaurants in the Upper Ottawa Valley ; and Brian MacGregor of the family-owned Browns Cleaners, with his folks, Malcolm and Heather and his wife, Bonni.Sherry Stone of Brockville Ontario was the lucky winner of ZOOM Airlines Return Airfare for 2 to Ireland The Lord of the Dance's two principle dancers, Mairead McCargo (The Goddess) and Damien Doherty (The Lord of the Dance) pictured with OutCare Foundation Executive Director, Gail Carroll, visited the preperformance cocktail reception to meet sponsors and guests as well as participate in a brief 'question & answer' session. “Celebration of Life” 2006 took place on October 17 at the Ottawa Congress Centre. This year’s event was a tremendous success that realized $178,000 for the group of benefiting hospice palliative care programs in the region. Hosted by the OutCare Foundation and in partnership with the Ottawa Senators Foundation, the high spirited evening welcomed Master of Ceremonies, Leanne Cusack of CTV Ottawa and auctioneer extraordinaire, Kent Browne of Royal LePage. The festivities included gourmet food, draws for jewelry and a ZOOM Airlines return trip for two to England. Great prizes and silent and live auction items that included Dinner for 16 at the British High Commission Residence created plenty of excitement. Presenting sponsor Desjardins Pharmacy along with 500 enthusiastic guests were entertained by the magic of Smith & Quick, the whimsy of Matt Ficner and his puppet “Duzz-Good”, the Oto-Wa Taiko Drummers and renowned jazz pianist Brian Browne. The Celebration of Life program has injected over $400,000 into hospice palliative care programs since its inception in 2004. Celebration of Life 2005 was a memorable event that attracted nearly 500 enthusiastic guests. The 2006 Celebration of Life is scheduled for October 17 at the Ottawa Congress Centre. This first class celebration is designed to advance awareness and funding for out-of-hospital hospice palliative care programs in our community. The highlight of a multi-year initiative created through the Ottawa Senators Foundation and the OutCare Foundation’s partnership, the Celebration of Life is a wonderful example of the good that grows when business, media and individuals come together to support and enrich lives. This spectacular program has realized $265,000 over the past two years for the benefiting group of hospice palliative care programs.

More than 3,000 revelers packed the Navan Fairgrounds on Friday, June 3, 2005 to celebrate the arrival of summer and help raise $20,000 for the OutCare Foundation. John Bradley, owner of JT Bradley’s Convenience Store and Vice Chairman of the OutCare Foundation was the organizer and driving force behind the 8th Navan Streetdance and Chicken BBQ. Ottawa Mayor, Bob Chiarelli lent his support and ‘Ambush’, the little band with the big sound, provided the entertainment. This hugely popular event that began back in 1997 was a great success for organizers, participants and the OutCare Foundation.
The OutCare Foundation Celebration Telethon for Roger’s House Broadcast on The Team 1200 radio and Rogers Sportsnet, the OutCare Foundation Celebration Telethon for Roger’s House on Jan. 15, 2005 raised $670,493 for Roger’s House, a pediatric palliative care facility to be be located on the campus of the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario. On March 21, 2006, a $25,000 cheque was presented by the OutCare Foundation during the 2006 Roger’s House Telethon, broadcast live during the Ottawa Senators vs Pittsburgh Penguins game.
CELEBRATION OF LIFE – October 2004 The OutCare Foundation presents "Celebration of Life, 2004" along with the Ottawa Senators Foundation and helps raise $100,000 for the Palliative Care Outreach Program On October 5, the OutCare Foundation partnered with the Ottawa Senators Foundation to jointly present, Celebration of Life a cocktail party and variety show in support of the Palliative Care Outreach Program (PCOP). As part of the OutCare Foundation's commitment to supporting out-of-hospital care in our community, the Foundation matched the amount raised through the "Celebration of Life" to present the PCOP with a cheque for $100,000.
