Andy Lonie

Andrew Lonie has been in the employee benefits and life insurance world since 1980. It all started soon after Carleton University where he studied Biology. Met Life was his first real Job as an account co-ordinator for large multinational group clients. He moved on to Canada Life after 6 years and became a Group Representative and finally the District Group Manager. All during this time he was an actor and partner in a Comedy group known as Skit Row. The group performed for almost 10 years at their club on Elgin street and also did a couple of runs at the NAC, and a few TV shows for CBC. Andy taught Improv to High School students all through the 80’s and was part of the group that created what has now become the Canadian Improv Games. The Games are held in high schools all across Canada culminating in a National Championship each year in Ottawa. These games have provided an outlet for many young adults who might otherwise have chosen wrong paths in life.

Andrew is a self-employed insurance and wealth advisor and is a member of Palladium Insurance Financial Group.

Charity work has always been a large part of his life and he spent 15 years coordinating the Silent Auction component of the Boys and Girls Club Awesome Auction raising well over $1million during that time period. After the Boys and Girls Club he moved on to the Ottawa Police Gala to run their Silent Auction for 7 years. Each year a new charity or two benefited from that work. With his love for theatre and ability to raise money, he was asked to join the Board of the Great Canadian Theatre Company here in Ottawa where he has served for the past 4 years. Andrew is a recipient of a 2015 Community Leadership Award.

Andrew brings out of the box problem solving skills and an ability to get things done. He joined the Board in August 2020.
